Dr. Juha Röning

Professor of Embedded Systems

Juha Röning is Professor of Embedded System at the University of Oulu. He also serves as Visiting Professor of Tianjin University of Technology, P. R. China. He is principal investigator of the Biomimetics and Intelligent Systems Group (BISG).

In 1985 he received Asla/Fullbright scholarship. From 1985 to 1986 he was a visiting research scientist in the Center for Robotic Research at the University of Cincinnati. From 1986 to 1989 he held a Young Researcher Position in the Finnish Academy.

In 2000 he was nominated as Fellow of SPIE. He has two patents and has published more than 300 papers in the areas of computer vision, robotics, intelligent signal analysis, and software security.

He is currently serving as a Board of Director for euRobotics aisbl. He is also a steering board member of ARTMIS-IA.

Paolo Crippa received the Laurea degree in Electronics Engineering (summa cum laude) from the University of Ancona, Italy in 1994 and the Ph.D. degree in Electronics Engineering from the Polytechnic of Bari, Italy in 1999.

Since November 1999, he has been with the Università Politecnica delle Marche, Ancona, Italy, where he is currently an Associate Professor of Electronics at the Department of Information Engineering.

His research interests include statistical integrated circuit design, nanoelectronics, biomedical circuits and systems, wearable sensors, signal processing and neural networks. He has authored or co-authored over 140 papers in international journals, edited books, and conference proceedings.

Prof. Crippa is currently Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Reconfigurable and Embedded Systems (IJRES) and Associate Editor of the IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics and the IEEE Access journal. He also serves on the editorial boards, technical program committees, and review boards of several international scientific journals and conferences in the field of electronics, signal processing, and computational intelligence.

He is a Senior Member of the IEEE, a Member of the ACM, and a Member of the Italian AEIT.
